The stripes are printed on 80-count single-thread lawn fabric, which is then glued after production to give the fabric firmness and texture.
This glue will not come off even after washing, but will gradually soften with wear.
Tumble drying will restore the firmness of the glue, so if you want to restore the original texture, tumble dry it.
